Today was absolutely amazing. We left the hotel this morning at 6am and took a long ride up to Malham. The scenery during the drive was absolutely gorgeous. I have never seen so much empty, green space. I wanted to sleep because I was so tired, but it was difficult to take my eyes off it.
Malham is a very remote little village with pretty much nothing going on. I absolutely love it here. When we first arrived we checked into our hotels. The group is staying in a hostel, but I get to stay at the Buck Inn:) They don't use any computers to log in guests, they just pencil you in like they do at the hair salon. It's like a comfortable house inside, complete with my own bathroom and all.
After we got settled, the whole group was scheduled to take a hike. Unfortunately it has been raining a lot here, so everything is soaking wet and muddy. As I mentioned a few days ago, I don't quite have the proper shoes for this type of endeavor, but it's okay- Andrew hooked me up with some sweet Ziploc bags over my socks inside my shoes. I looked awesome, and my feet stayed 100% dry! I can't upload pictures of it yet, but I will once I return to my home in Ireland!
I thought the drive to Malham was beautiful, but our hike was even more amazing. I can't even explain how wonderful it was. There were sheep and cows everywhere, a waterfall, streams, and everything was so green.
We were of course exhausted and hungry afterward, so Andrew, Ben, Erin and I had an amazing meal. I got fish & chips (surprise), and the most incredible milk shake I've ever had. Everyone took naps later, then hung out for a couple hours, and now it is back to bed again!
