Easter Break: Friday in London, Best Day of My Whole Life!

Today was the best day in the entire world! I’m going to explain the events from beginning to end, so sit back and relax:) We got up this morning and ate a delicious hotel breakfast. It was a buffet with eggs, bacon, hash browns, tons of cereal, fresh fruit, etc. Delicious! We set out with Ben and two other World Tour members, Erin and Mark. I don’t think anything was really on the agenda, but I know Andrew and Ben still wanted to see that site they were trying to find yesterday.
We walked around all day, here are some of the things we saw.

This was a really neat Princess Diana memorial.

Cool war memorial.

Andrew has been eating kebabs in every country he can find them, and he’s been raving about them. We found a kebab place so we of course got some tasty kebabs. Andrew was bummed though because he didn’t think they were good compared to the others he’s eaten, so he said we’ll have to try them again somewhere else.

We finally made it to the site the guys had been trying to find. It was neat, lots of interesting architecture. We had to go over this really cool bridge to get there.

From the site there is this really neat looking building and a huge bridge. Right next to the building there was a big ampitheater thing called “The Scoop.” We stood around here for a while and I lied down to relax my aching legs. Did I mention everyone on the World Tour has amazing shoes meant to walk for hours? I have a pair of $30 Kangaroos that I’ve been trekking around in for the past few weeks, they’re starting to kill!

Andrew’s friends decided they were hungry, but Andrew and I weren’t hungry at all. We agreed to split up and then meet them later. This was a good time for Andrew to give me all the souvenirs he’s been collecting for me. His friends left and Andrew and I stayed in the ampitheater so we could sit while I unwrapped all my souvenirs. They all came in a really cute tin. Each souvenir was also wrapped in French newspaper. It was really neat. The first gift I opened was a box of apple tea from Turkey. Andrew has been telling me all about this apple tea he has been drinking, so he got me some too. After that I opened a thing of perfume from France. The next thing I opened was a set of stationery with the letter “K” on it from Venice. Andrew knows stationery is one of my favorite things, especially personalized. I was very excited! The next gift he gave me was a green stick of wax. Yes, I was thinking the same thing.. what is this for? He then gave me this stamp thing for sealing envelopes. He told me that I am supposed to melt the wax and then stick the stamp in the wax. Then, I will stamp the wax onto the back of the envelope to seal it. When I looked at the stamp I wasn’t sure what the design was. I think I was holding it upside down because it just looked like a bunch of lines to me. Poor Andrew, he was hoping I would notice the stamp said “KA.” He said, “Do you realize what that says?” I picked it back up, and after a bit of spinning it around I saw that it said, “KA,” which is meant to stand for “Kacy Anderson.” Can you guess what my next gift was? It was an engagement ring!!! Andrew pulled out the ring, got down on his knee of course, and asked me to marry him! I was so shocked. Truly, I had no idea it was coming. To see him imitate the face I made at that moment is pretty funny. I just got up and started hugging him and saying “Oh my gosh!!” I actually forgot to respond. Finally, I told him I would of course marry him, and then I just kept hugging him. I was so overwhelmed I even forgot to take the ring. After a minute or two he had to ask, “So do you want the ring?” When we told his friends this one of them said, “Hey at least you know she’s not in it for the ring!” Too funny. It is so beautiful, I love it so much!

This was the most memorable moment of my whole life. Everyone has been teasing me and asking me if he would ask me to marry him overseas. I kept telling them there is absolutely no way he would carry a ring to over 20 different countries. That would be a really bad idea, considering some of the areas they’ve been in. It turns out he actually didn’t carry it to all the countries. He had it shipped to Paris, which was where they were right before London. Apparently this was a huge ordeal because the ring company sent it, but it sat in customs for a while without anyone making any moves with it. He actually got the ring only 2 days before he gave it to me.
We then went to the restaurant his friends were eating at. On the way there we shared funny stories about his ring shopping experience, and about a time I was upset with him because he “ditched me” one day, when really he was shopping for my ring. We were laughing about how I didn’t realize what the stamp said, forgot to say yes, and forgot to take the ring. It was really fun. When we made it to the restaurant and shared some drinks and our story with his friends. It was dark by the time we headed back to the hotel, it was so beautiful. I will never forget this day! It was the best day ever :)

When we got back to the hotel I was obviously very ready to tell my parents, his parents, and my friends. We tried Skype, and we were able to talk to my mom for about 30 seconds. I told her we were engaged, heard her scream (a joyous scream, don’t worry), then we got disconnected. We were able to chat by typing for a bit, but that was all. Unfortunately we couldn’t get a hold of his mom or any of our friends. We made some mad attempts and it was quite the frenzy trying to call get a hold of anyone. We tried using his calling card from the hotel, using my cell phone from the hotel, and we even went to a pay phone across the street to try and use the phones, but nothing would work. I was bummed because I wanted to tell everyone right then and there! I ended up being able to ask my mom to send messages to my closest friends on facebook because I was afraid they would find out from someone else. This is not the way I wanted everyone to find out, but oh well!
So here I am, an engaged girl! It’s crazy, but I’m so very excited. I would not have it any other way. We plan to get married next summer, but definitely don’t have an actual date it mind yet. When I get home from Ireland let the wedding planning begin!
